Durango has one of the best family rafting runs found anywhere. The run starts on the north end of Durango and heads south toward New Mexico on the Lower Animas River.

The run is rated Class III with many exciting waves and rapids. This trip offers beautiful scenery and is an excellent way to enjoy the region.

We offer both oar and paddle rafts to best meet your desires. Southwest Whitewater provides state of the art lifejackets, self bailing rafts, safety equipment and the best guides found anywhere.

All our trips are kept small and personable. The Lower Animas is the perfect trip for the whole family and all you need to bring is sunscreen, water shoes, towel, shorts and a readiness to have fun!
